Chess in Concert

Originally recorded as a concept album in 1984 by Tim Rice, Benny Andersson, and Björn Ulvaeus (the latter two from pop sensation group ABBA) and later performed worldwide with several reincarnations, Chess is a musical involving two chess players and a manager who becomes one's love interest. Early on, the musical could be seen performed at both prestigious West End and Broadway locales and was eventually also rendered in Los Angeles, Melbourne, and Stockholm. Chess spawned the international hit "One Night in Bangkok" and also features ballads "Pity the Child," "Heaven Help My Heart," "Embassy Lament," and "I Know Him So Well."

This new revival, 25 years after the original, features a young talented cast comprised of Idina Menzel (from 2005's Rent, Wicked), Josh Groban, Adam Pascal (2005's Rent), Kerry Ellis (Wicked), and Marti Pellow (from Scottish pop band Wet Wet Wet). Tonight the filmed production will make it's debut on PBS.
