Kuselan - A big release


Rajinikanth's P.Vasu directed Kuselan release has been confirmed for the first week of August (1 or 8th), depending on the completion of post production work.

Some patchwork shoot of the film is happening in Chennai, while the graphics is yet to be completed. A grand 'Ganamela' by G.V Prakash the music director of the film and the singers who sang in the film will be held on July 19 in Chennai. This is a promotional event to further popularize the film’s music.

Meanwhile Pyramid Saimira the distributors of the film are planning to launch a game based on Kuselan theme. As of now the film will be releasing big in Tamil and Telugu in 1000 screens

Sathyam soft audio launch

Vishal and his brother Vicky are the smartest guys in Kollywood when it comes to marketing their films.

Their latest Sathyam is already in the news for the "hottest song picturised on Vishal and Nayan" with some peppy numbers from Harris Jayaraj.

The cool guys are not going for any big audio launch, which is a waste of money as already there is a lot of expectation and hype surrounding the films music.

They are now going for a direct launch to the market on Sunday July 20 instead of holding a function.

Those who heard Harris's music for the film say that it is "extraordinary and will appeal to all".

It is also Harris Jayaraj's silver jubilee (25th) film album and is expected to be a chartbuster.

Rajini instructs on lesser prints for Kuselan


Based on Rajinikanth's instructions, the Kuselan team will now print only 500 to 600 copies of the film. According to sources close to the Superstar, the decision to do this is based on wanting to reverse the trend where fans end up seeing the film within a few days of its release. Elaborating more on this decision, sources added that more number of prints means releasing the film in many screens, decreasing the number of viewers considerably within a few days of the movie hitting the screens. This could drastically reduce the chance of the film seeing an100 day run. Also, a 100 day run would mean awards for technicians and artists, and in a movie that is celebrating cinema (Cinema, Cinema), it seems only right that those in the shadow of the arc lights should be rewarded.

70 lakhs for Silambarasan and Rachana


Silambarasan is never tired of trying out new things! The actor is presently busy with his dream project Silambattam. According to our sources, Silambarasan has roped in a Mumbai model Rachana Maurya for a dance sequence. The dance was choreographed with about 30 Mumbai and 120 Chennai models apart from Silambarasan and Rachana Maurya. Apparently Rachana was paid Rs. 5 lakhs to shake her leg in this song. According to producers K. Muralidharan and Swaminathan, the song was shot at a budget of Rs. 70 lakhs.

For Bangalore-based Meghna, there couldn’t be a happier moment than when KB visited their home and spoke to her. “He came home two years ago and I was ecstatic,” she gushes. “The fact that he remembered me recently and launched me through his banner makes Krishna Leelai a dream debut for me. It’s all the more meaningful for us because it was KB sir who introduced my parents into Tamil films through Thappu Thalangal.” Dad Sunder Raj adds, “Even in Karnataka, everyone is very happy that KB is introducing my daughter.”

Though Sunder Raj is a Tamilian he acts in Kannada movies and has now entered production too. “I acted in 15 Tamil films while Pramila has done five,” says Sunder Raj who is also the Secretary of the Kannada Film Artiste’s Association.

Meghna is acting opposite Jeevan in the film directed by Selvan. How did the twelfth standard student decide to enter films? “I didn’t know she had this interest,” says Sunder Raj. “Since her grandfather is an ex-service man, and she was in NCC I thought she might choose the defence services.”

About Krishna Leelai she says, “There is something of me in this character.” Meghna avers, “Cinema is serious business in Kollywood. It felt really good to be in front of the camera. I know I am going to love acting here,” she signs off happily.

Marmayogi in grandeur at Switzerland


Followed by the grand success of his magnum opus Dasavatharam, actor Kamal Haasan has geared up with shooting for his next film Marmayogi. Earlier, plans were to launch the film at Grand Hotel in Mumbai at the presence of who’s who of tinsel town. Later the occasion had to be postponed on July 25 for unknown reason and now Kamal Haasan has decided not to have his film launched in grandeur. CM to release "Perumal" Movie Audio



Chief Minister M Karunanidhi will release the first copy of the audio cassette ‘Perumal’ starring Sundar C, Namitha and Vivek.

The movie has musical score by Srikanth Deva. Interestingly Karunandihi's grandson M K Muthu Arivunidhi makes his debut as singer with the film.

Directed by Vincent Selvah, the movie is produced by Shanmugham for Srishti Films. The first copy would be received by actor-director Bhagyaraj in the presence of Tamil Film Producers Council president Rama Narayanan.

The audio launch would take place on 18 July in Chennai in which who's who of Tamil cinema would be present.

Sundar C, who ventured to acting from wielding the megaphone, has emerged a mass hero rendering back-to-back hits. He is confident that ‘Perumal’ too would make it big at the box office.

Ileana in Superstar Rajini Kanth "Sultan The Warrior"



Tollywood glam doll Ileana has been roped in to act with 'Superstar' Rajinikanth in ‘Sultan The Warrior’, an animated film being directed by the top actor's daughter Soundarya.

Ileana, who entered Kollywood with ‘Kedi’ opposite Ravi Krishna, would begin her second innings in Tamil filmdom with Sultan.

Besides, she has also been asked to share the screen with Vikram in a movie to be directed by K S Ravikumar. Vikram would act in two different roles in this project.

The movie is produced by Soundarya Rajinikanth's Ocher Studios. A R Rahman is scoring the music.

“It is privilege to do a movie on my father, who is a mass hero and man admired by the masses”, says Soundarya.
