Susan Boyle Memories Youtube Video

Susan Boyle, the frumpy Scottish spinster whose amazing voice has become a global YouTube sensation, stunned audiences again on Sunday as she was voted through to the final of "Britain's Got Talent."

Singing "Memory" from the musical "Cats," the 48-year-old overcame initial nerves to produce another command performance, her soaring rendition winning the telephone vote on the talent show.

"You are one special lady, I have to say, you really are," Simon Cowell, one of the panel of three judges, said after Boyle's performance brought the audience to their feet.

Wearing a shimmering purple dress, Boyle looked far more primped and preened than she did on first appearance on the show last month, when her dowdy looks and quirky manner provoked titters from the audience, who assumed she couldn't sing.

This time, her hair was coiffed, her eyebrows were plucked and she looked almost every inch a star in the making.

"What pressure?" she said when asked afterwards if she was nervous. "It was really good tonight, I really enjoyed it ... I'm very happy to be here and thank you all for your support."

Boyle left the judges openmouthed last month with her rendition of "I Dreamed a Dream" from "Les Miserables," which almost immediately became an Internet sensation, watched more than 60 million times on YouTube.

With appearances since on U.S. chat shows hosted by Oprah Winfrey and Larry King, Boyle -- who has joked that she has never been kissed -- has become a global sensation, her age and appearance conflicting with most images of modern celebrity.

APOLOGY

After her performance on Sunday, Cowell was moved to apologize to Boyle, saying she had been poorly underestimated.

"You know what, I just want to apologize because of the way we treated you before you sang the first time," he said. "You made me and everyone else look very stupid and I'm very happy for you, very proud for you."

Boyle, who sang in choirs as a youngster but always dreamed of a career in London's West End, tried to shut him up, saying she had paid no attention to the global furor.

Since her performance in April, television crews from around the world have camped outside her home in rural Scotland and newspapers have dedicated countless pages to her.

A fan site dedicated to Boyle is titled "Never judge a book by its cover."

In Sunday's semi-final, Boyle defeated seven other acts including a belly dancer and a Darth Vader impersonator to get through to the final on Saturday

Yellow Ribbon Program

The Montana National Guard unveiled a new program Wednesday aimed at helping families cope with military service before, during and after their loved ones are deployed.

The new campaign, entitled the Yellow Ribbon Program, is designed for all branches of the military. The National Guard will host a public meeting Wednesday night in Billings to discuss the new program. The meeting will provide information about support groups, military programs and available services offered to service men and women.

Montana National Guard Senior Sergeant Master John O'Brien says the Billings community plays a vital role in the lives of service members and it's important they get involved.

"We see our members one weekend a month you know, but you see them 28 days a month. So really it's easy to hide something for 2 days but it isn't easy to hide something for 28 days. And we want to know genuinely if our folks are struggling and having problems because we want to steer them in the right direction and help them."

O'Brien encourages all community members to take part in Wednesday nights event. The meeting is open to the public and starts at 7 p.m. at the Armed Forces Reserve Center located at 2915 Gable Road in Billings.

Homage Clothing Apparel, Homage Clothing

Homage jumped off with licensure to market Ohio State Buckeyes gear a couple of years ago. Since, the clothing troupe has far outpaced its quiet Midwestern roots (Ohio to be exact) by offering brand new “aged” t-shirts fresh off the press that reference bygone popular culture mantras, expired ballplayers and fallen politicians.

The brand has blown up with fashion-conscious cats in Japan, but admittedly, U.S. heads have been a little slow to recognize. For now, the company’s tees can only be purchased through their online store.

Hit the “Read More” to peep some of my favorite Homage designs!

Pistol Pete: Press Maravich–”I gave him the fundamentals, but the between-the-legs, behind-the-back, blind stuff Pete does, I never even thought of that.” Don’t forget about the hair, Poppa Press.

Detroit: Straight from the website–“According to a 1984 Time Magazine article, guns came close to ranking as household appliances in Detroit, with an estimated 1.5 million firearms in a city of only 1.2 million people.”

World B. Free: With Free on board with k1x, the World B. movement is in full swing. Chalk up this gold/burgundy affair as another win for the Brownsville native.

Elevator Ernie Johnson: Ernie Johnson coordinates TNT’s award winning “Inside the NBA” with analysts Kenny Smith and Charles Barkley. Johnson’s unlikely ups provide inspiration for this tee. Don’t believe me? Check this. (A portion of this shirt’s proceeds benefits The Lymphoma Research Foundation.)

White Men’s Cant Jump: Rosie Perez, lackluster hoops action, an unbelievable day of “Jeopardy!”, and Rosie Perez.

Moses Malone: A note to religious pundits: Moses was black. Malone delivered an NBA Championship to the City of Brotherly Love under his “Fo’, Fo’, Fo’” manta.

Jesse Jackson, President ‘84: Jesse’s been around for a while now.

Let Them Eat Jellybeans: The backbone to Reagan’s voodoo economics wasn’t his degree from Eureka University or a staunch cabinet of advisers. Rather, it was the glass jar of assorted jellybeans he kept on his desk, encouraging visitors to dip in and enjoy a handful.
