NBC’s not must see TV
8 p.m. I’m a Celebrity … Get Me Out of Here!
The show originally aired back in the early 2000’s which sucked. And it took five years for them to remake it – and it sucks. Paraphrasing analysis from David Gonos.
ABC double-dose … Idiots-aplenty
8 p.m. – Wipeout
9 p.m. – I Survived a Japanese Game Show
The latter is premiering for the first time. I’ll be honest, for about five episodes everyone here was in love with it, then it faded quietly. I’m willing to jump back in, because frankly there is absolutely nothing else on television besides “True Blood” and baseball.
Fox … nope (Unless the first name is Megan. Hence the picture to the right that has absolutely nothing to do with anything – but somehow is my everything).
8-10 p.m. So You Think You Can Dance
BORING.
BBC, theatre for television 9 p.m.
9 p.m. -- Gordon Ramsey’s F Word
It’s the fourth season the show has been on television, but the first time I’ve heard of it. At any rate, former Spice Girl (current??) Geri Halliwell challenges Ramsay to meatball-off. This show has to fall somewhere between Meh and ROFLcopter.
Discovery, it’s like health class but clothed …
8 p.m. – Time Warp visits Las Vegas
9 p.m. – Mythbusters explores popcorn myths and convertibles and rain incidents.
Comedy Central, a station that correctly identifies itself
9:30 p.m. – South Park’s “Die Hippie, Die” episode.
Discovery Health
8 p.m. – Obese and Pregnant
It follows around three expectant mothers that are morbidly obese. Words cannot explain the confusion I have towards this.
9 p.m. – Monsterquest seeks out killer crocodiles.

The dining room is très chic, with lots of dark wood, white tablecloths and giant ruched orange fabric lampshades hovering overhead. In the bar, which serves food until midnight most nights and until 1 a.m. on weekends, water slithers down a glass wall, and more than a thousand bottles of wine reside in a glassed-in wine cabinet.
The most inviting aspect of Tracht's, other than the elegant chophouse fare, is the outdoor patio, which wraps around one corner of the building and looks out on Ocean Boulevard toward the Pacific. Though buildings block much of the water view, tables under handsome cantilevered umbrellas still can revel in that authentically salty breeze. Glass windscreens and a radiant heated floor keep you comfy enough to concentrate on the food. There's also a jolly fire pit with seating for those who want to cozy up with a martini or a glass of wine.
Tracht's menu hews very closely to Jar's, presenting a neat lineup of the Los Angeles restaurant's best dishes. The crab deviled eggs make a delightful little appetizer to share, hard-boiled eggs with a spicy stuffing topped with a little fresh crabmeat. There are Hama Hama oysters on the half shell served with a black pepper ponzu and a terrific take on Caesar salad made with crisp, slightly bitter red endive instead of the usual romaine leaves. I'm a big fan of Tracht's deconstructed lobster cocktail with chunks of beautifully cooked lobster and shredded green mango drenched in lime. If you want to go lighter, order the pretty butter lettuce salad with breakfast radishes and a shower of fresh herbs.
Over our first courses, we watch the people parade by on Ocean Boulevard. It's nothing like the crowd streaming by farther north on Santa Monica's Ocean Avenue, and that's the beauty: Long Beach has its own relaxed vibe.
With Tracht's in residence, you can enjoy the scene while digging into a remarkably flavorful veal porterhouse or savoring Jar's signature pot roast with carrots and caramelized onions. Char siu pork chop is a thick one, heavily brined and basted with a sweet marinade that chars up beautifully. It may not be to everyone's taste, but if you favor teriyaki and love sweet Chinese dishes, this is your baby.
Steak lovers get their choice of Kansas City strip, skirt steak, rib-eye or filet. But there are also some braised options, such as a fine coq au vin or braised lamb shank perfumed with coriander and star anise. Most of the main courses come with an onion roasted in its skin until it's soft and velvety and stuffed with a pesto.
Tracht has always turned out appealing side dishes. Onion rings here are so crisp and delicious that when you finish one order, you want to ask for another. Sautéed pea shoots with garlic and hot pepper are wonderful. And as for duck fried rice, it's sheer genius to put this on a chophouse menu, because it's such a fine accompaniment to most of the meats and even fish.
For dessert, the banana cream pie has the same luscious filling of softly whipped cream and bananas as it does at Jar — and the same hard, cookie-like crust.
Obviously, Tracht can't be in two places at once, so when she's in L.A. at her primary restaurant, chef de cuisine Jessica Alexander, former sous-chef at Studio in Laguna Beach's Montage resort, is in charge.
Based on a single visit a few days after the restaurant opened on the propitious date of 7/7/07, Alexander seems to have the same meticulous attention to detail as Tracht does.

Ensign spokesman Tory Mazzola said the affair took place between December 2007 and August 2008 with a campaign staffer who was married to an employee in Ensign's Senate office. Neither has worked for the senator since May 2008.
Ensign, 51, said he would not mention the name of the campaign aide involved in the affair. He described the woman and her husband as good friends.
Visit msnbc.com for Breaking News, World News, and News about the Economy
"Our families were close," a weary-looking Ensign said. "That closeness put me into situations which led to my inappropriate behavior. We caused deep pain to both families and for that I am sorry."
Ensign made it clear he did not plan to resign. Ensign did not participate earlier Tuesday in a Senate vote concerning the ailing travel industry, an unusual absence considering the topic's relevance in his home state.
It was unclear why Ensign decided to disclose the affair Tuesday. He took no questions from reporters at the news conference.
Ensign's wife, Darlene, also released a statement about the affair.
"Since we found out last year we have worked through the situation and we have come to a reconciliation. This has been difficult on both families. With the help of our family and close friends our marriage has become stronger," Mrs. Ensign said.
The Ensigns have three children.
Ensign was first elected to the Senate in 2000 and quickly rose through the GOP ranks. He chaired the GOP's Senate campaign operation in 2007 and 2008, and last year was named chairman of the Republican Policy Committee, the No. 4 position in the party's Senate leadership. The committee coordinates the GOP's legislative efforts in the Senate.
Last month, Ensign traveled to Iowa for a speech organized by a conservative advocacy group, sparking speculation that he had an interest in possibly running for president. Aides said the visit was about staking out a leadership position within the GOP.
Ensign has been a rising star among conservatives, speaking out against President Barack Obama's stimulus package, statehood for the District of Columbia and union-organizing legislation and in favor of gun owners' rights. Ensign has been a member of the men's ministry the Promise Keepers, a Christian ministry.
He had been highly critical of former Sen. Larry Craig, R-Idaho, who served in Congress for a quarter-century when he was arrested in an airport bathroom sex sting. Ensign stopped short of urging him to resign but suggested strongly that he should.
"I wouldn't put myself hopefully in that kind of position, but if I was in a position like that, that's what I would do," Ensign said. "He's going to have to answer that for himself." In the end, Craig served out his term.
Ensign is the latest member of Congress who has acknowledged infidelity. Sen. David Vitter, R-La., is rebounding from being linked with a prostitute.
Over the years, Ensign and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., have worked closely on issues affecting Nevada and have an agreement not to criticize the other publicly.
"Sen. Reid's thoughts are with Sen. Ensign and his family at this time," Reid spokesman Jon Summers.

Republicans lost eight seats last November under Ensign's campaign leadership, with one race, in Minnesota, still undecided. The losses put Democrats within one seat of having a 60-40 majority, enough to prevent the GOP from blocking bills and appointments if all of them vote together.
Ensign is a veterinarian and adopted son of a Nevada casino mogul. He clearly was the most influential Republican in his state as the governor, Jim Gibbons, struggled with a horrendous economy and accusations of infidelity as well.

Christina Hawthorne (Smith) may be small, but when it comes to fighting for her patients and their families, she's a force to be reckoned with. By the looks of preview clips and the scene I've included below, this is one TV nurse who is bound to make a lasting impression.
In addition to fighting for her patients at work, Hawthorne fights to remain sane at home. The show takes place one year after her husband's death and we watch the tough nurse struggle to manage her own grief while also trying to be there for her rebellious daughter, Camille. The show also stars Michael Vartan as chief of surgery and Suleka Mathew, among others. Her personal life aside, Hawthorne seems like the kind of flawed but dedicated nurse people might look up to.
After the jump I have a preview clip from tonight's premiere, so read more.

Justin Denney is the student who was denied his high school diploma by the teachers after he carried out show boating on the stage.
The student Justin Denney goes to school at Bonny Eagle High School during the ceremony came on stage to receive his high school diploma when his name was called out by the teachers but when he reached on the stage, he took a long bow and blew a kiss into the audience.
For indulging in blatant show boating, Justin Denney was told to go back into the audience and take his seat without his diploma being handed to him.
The Bonny Eagle High School senior’s mother Mary Denny is obviously quite upset and cannot still come to terms that her son’s taking a bow and blowing a kiss on stage led was grounds for the superintendent to withhold his diploma.

EW has learned exclusively that Atlanta-based country duo Sugarland will be performing "Love Shack" with fellow Georgians The B-52s on tonight's CMT Music Awards. This news comes on the heels of this morning's announcement that Jennifer Nettles and Kristian Bush will release their first concert DVD, Live on the Inside, on August 4th in a Wal-Mart store near you. The hi-def show will be accompanied by a separate CD featuring live cuts of the duo's infamous covers, including Beyonce's "Irreplaceable," Pearl Jam's "Better Man," Kings of Leon's "Sex on Fire," and -- synergy! -- "Love Shack."
I'll be live-blogging the broadcast tonight and will have more thoughts then, but for now I'm of two minds about this choice. As much as I always prefer to hear original songs, Bush and Nettles do covers better than anyone in the biz -- and they've been closing out shows with "Love Shack" all year, so why not? Plus, as a child of the '80s, I can never get enough of Fred Schneider. (Rock lobster!)

"Back From The Dead", the first new album in almost two decades from England's "loudest heavy metal band" SPINAL TAP, is available for streaming in its entirety at Spinner.com.
Due on Tuesday, June 16, 2009, the follow-up to 1992's "Break Like The Wind" sees TAP members David St. Hubbins, Nigel Tufnel and Derek Smalls unearth their long-self-suppressed studio versions of the classic songs from the movie "This is Spinal Tap", as well as six new additional tracks and an exclusive hour-long accompanying DVD featuring a track-by-track video commentary by the band. "Back From The Dead" also features guest appearances by Phil Collen (DEF LEPPARD), Keith Emerson, John Mayer and Steve Vai.
"This album title says it all. We're back from the dead. But we weren't dead. But we definitely are back," proclaimed Hubbins.
"Back From The Dead" is a deluxe CD/DVD package aggressively priced and containing 19 original SPINAL TAP songs, a one-hour DVD and unique pop-up diorama package that unveils three 12-inch action figures (courtesy of Sideshow Collectibles) of the band along with a proportionally sized Stonehenge.
"Back From The Dead" is destined to be a collector's item, especially among collectors. The LP includes the newly interpreted TAP classics "Hell Hole", "Tonight I'm Gonna Rock You Tonight", "Heavy Duty", "Rock 'n' Roll Creation", "America", "Cups and Cakes", "Big Bottom", "Sex Farm", "Stonehenge", "Gimme Some Money" and "(Listen to the) Flower People".
"While the movie and soundtrack accurately represented our stage sound at the time, the studio versions of these songs on this album represent the cosmic maturation of the material, within a digital context. Also, they're louder," stated Smalls.
The new songs recorded specifically for "Back From The Dead" include "Warmer Than Hell", "Short and Sweet", "Celtic Blues", "Rock 'n' Roll Nightmare", "Back From The Dead" and "the first known studio recording of the soon-to-be-long-forgotten 'Jazz Oddyssey'."
"Back From The Dead" was produced by CJ Vanston, who arranged and played keyboards on the band's "Break Like The Wind" album and was musical director for their 1992, 2000 and 2007 tours. As a film composer, he has produced music for Christopher Guest's movies "Waiting For Guffman", "Best In Show", "A Mighty Wind" and "For Your Consideration".
The "Back From The Dead" deluxe CD/DVD package is being distributed completely outside of the traditional major label infrastructure. Retail distribution and marketing of physical CDs will be handled by Artist2Market (A2M) while digital marketing and distribution will be serviced by INgrooves.
"Back From The Dead" track listing:
01. Tonight I'm Gonna Rock You Tonight
02. Back From The Dead
03. (Funky) Sex Farm
04. Rock 'n' Roll Creation
05. Jazz Oddyssey I
06. Gimme Some Money
07. Rock 'n' Roll Nightmare
08. Heavy Duty
09. America
10. Jazz Oddyssey II
11. (Listen to the) Flower People (Reggae Stylee)
12. Hell Hole
13. Big Bottom
14. Celtics Blues
15. Jazz Oddyssey III
16. Warmer Than Hell
17. Stonehenge
18. Short and Sweet
19. Cups and Cakes
In addition to the above 19 songs, fans of SPINAL TAP can find a free download for the previously unreleased "Saucy Jack" from Hubbins' unfinished musical about Jack the Ripper on the band's web site, www.spinaltap.com. There are also rumors that there will be exclusive versions of "Sex Farm" and "(Listen to the) Flower People" available on certain digital outlets. And if that is not enough, the band will be releasing a very special 11-inch, limited-edition vinyl version of "Back From The Dead".
