virgin birth in humans, human parthenogenesis, eclampsia, virgin birth, parthenogenesis in humans

Eclampsia is a very real condition effecting pregnant women. Though Eclampsia usually follows extremely high activity, and wouldn’t generally be found in a overweight teen, unless she had suddenly taken up a strenuous exercise program. Eclampsia also generally sets in 6 months in to a pregnancy, not 3 weeks after.

Human Parthenogenesis, or Virgin birth, doesn’t occur in mammals. You may remember this was the premise for Jurasic Park. With Dinosaur which had frog DNA in them switched genders. While you could argue Mary gave birth as a Virgin… That was a with some help. As I’ll explain in a minute.

House’s Trick would only work if the patient was having a girl. And would be a very dangerous lie to tell because a diagnose of genetic risks would be so in accurate after such a lie. In human parthenogenesis the daughter would be a clone of her mother. If Jesus had been a girl, it would have been possible that his birth was the result of human parthenogenesis but as Mary had no Y chromosome that rules that out as a possibility.

trooper stops ambulance, puppy flushed down toilet, chicken breeds, dyno rod, trooper vs paramedic, chicken coops

Trooper Stops Ambulance - This is a story that took place on May 24. What happened is that Trooper Daniel Martin got upset because the ambulance didn’t get out of his way in time to respond to a call for backup. Martin also saw that the driver made him an obscene gesture, this was enough for him, so he stopped the ambulance.

According to his lawyer Martin didn’t know there was a patient on the ambulance!

An altercation took place between the cops and paramedics. The patient was in the end finally treated and she suffered no harm, but the family questions the incident. According to the Associated Press:

The situation escalates, with White repeatedly telling Martin he has a patient that he wants to take to the hospital, and Martin telling him to get back in the ambulance. They soon begin scuffling on the side of the road as Martin attempts to arrest White, at one point grabbing him by the throat, video shows.

The attorney of White, the paramedic, said:

“If the guy was bruised, it didn’t make any difference, he ought not to stop ambulance drivers for hurting his feelings.”

Damn right.

Those were the news about the Trooper Stops ambulance.

hydropolis, underwater hotel dubai, capital da india, dubai tv, hotel under water

Currently under construction in Dubai, Hydropolis will be the world's first luxury underwater hotel. It will include three elements: the land station, where guests will be welcomed, the connecting tunnel, which will transport people by train to the main area of the hotel, and the 220 suites within the submarine leisure complex. It is one of the largest contemporary construction projects in the world, covering an area of 260 hectares, about the size of London's Hyde Park.

"Hydropolis is not a project; it's a passion," enthuses Joachim Hauser, the developer and designer of the hotel. His futuristic vision is about to take shape 20m below the surface of the Persian Gulf, just off the Jumeirah Beach coastline in Dubai.

The £300m, 220-suite hotel was due to open by the end of 2006 but has experienced delays and is now scheduled to open in 2009. It will incorporate a host of innovations that will take it far beyond the original blueprint for an underwater complex worthy of Jules Verne.

There are only a few locations in the world where such a grandiose dream could be realised. A high proportion of today's architectural marvels are materialising like fanciful mirages from the desert sands. We have come to expect extravagant enterprises to be mounted in the Middle East, and especially in Dubai. "This venture could only be born here in Dubai," says Hauser. "It [has] a very open-minded, international community - and that's what makes it so special."

The land on which Hydropolis is being built belongs to His Highness General Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai. It was his last free beach property on this stretch of coast. The project is a fantastic one, yet Sheikh Mohammed's success record with comparable schemes instils confidence that science fiction can become fact. With his support, several companies have been formed to kick-start this phenomenal project, and around 150 firms are currently involved.

"There have been many visions of colonising the sea – Jules Verne, Jean Gusto and several Japanese architects – but no one has ever managed to realise this dream," says Hauser. "That was the most challenging factor, and that's what makes it so fascinating. Despite being a dream of mankind for centuries, nobody has ever been able to make living underwater possible."

UNDERWATER HOTEL DESIGN

The original idea for Hydropolis developed out of Hauser's passion for water and the sea, and goes much deeper than just building a hotel underwater. More than just curiosity, it is a commitment to a more far-reaching philosophy. "Once you start digging deeper and deeper into the subject, you can't help being fascinated and you start caring about all the associated issues," he explains. "Humans consist of 80% water, the earth consists of 80% water; without water there is no life."

Hydropolis reproduces the human organism in an architectural design. There is a direct analogy between the physiology of man and the architecture. The geometrical element is a figure eight lying on its side and inscribed in a circle. The spaces created in the basin will contain function areas, such as restaurants, bars, meeting rooms and theme suites. These can be compared to the components of the human organism: the motor functions and the nervous and cardiovascular systems, with the central sinus knot representing the pulse of all life.

The ballroom, located at this nerve centre, will have asymmetrical pathways connecting the different storeys along ramps. A large, petal-like retracting roof will enable the staging of open-sky events. Staircases, lifts and ramps will provide access to the ballroom, while flanking catering areas will supply banquets and receptions.

HYDROPOLIS LAND STATION

In order to enter this surreal space, visitors will begin at the land station. This 120m woven, semicircular cylinder will arch over a multi-storey building. On the lowest level passengers board a noiseless train propelled by fully automated cable along a modular, self-supporting steel guideway to Hydropolis. A just-in-time and on-demand logistical system will facilitate efficient supply of goods to the hotel.

The upper storeys of the land station house a variety of facilities, including a cosmetic surgery clinic, a marine biological research laboratory and conference facilities. On the lower levels are the staff rooms, goods storage and loading areas, and hotel and parking areas.

The land station also includes a restaurant and high-tech cinema screening the evolution of life in the ocean and the history of underwater architecture. As a finale, the screen will open to reveal the real-life Hydropolis. A viewing platform at the front opening of the spanning roof will allow views of the architecture as well as the light shows of Hydropolis.

MARINE ARCHITECTURE

This structure promises to be a conceptual as well as a physical landmark. While human beings accept the existence of water, we have only a superficial appreciation of its significance. "We waste it, go swimming in it and generally take it for granted," says Hauser. "Humans could actually live self-sufficiently underwater, generating energy, nurturing food supplies and so on. This is why we are starting a foundation to demonstrate something of the importance of water in our lives.

"My general plan was to create a living space in the sea. My initial proposal was a deep-sea project, which looked very different. I had to adjust to the local reality of the natural surroundings and change to a shallow-water construction.

"We want to create the first ever faculty for marine architecture because I believe that the future lies in the sea, including the future of city planning. I am certain that one day a whole city will be built in the sea. Our aim is to lay the first mosaic by colonising the sea."

Hauser plans to incorporate many different elements associated with the sea. The cosmetics will be ocean-based, the cinemas will screen films that focus on aquatic themes and a children's seaworld will educate as well as entertain.

He views his creation as a place where those who do not dive – or do not even swim – can experience the tranquillity and inspiration of the underwater world. "We are expecting around 3,000 visitors a day in addition to the hotel guests. The aim is to inspire people to develop a new awareness of the sea."

As well as emphasising the positive aspects of water, Hauser also believes we are systematically destroying marine life, and thus wishes to draw attention to various dangers and problems, such as the loss of algae and the destruction of the coral reefs.

FUNDING AND DEVELOPMENT

Dreams, however fabulous, remain unfulfilled without the cash to support the commitment. "The hardest part of the process was finding sponsorship to the tune of €550m," admits Hauser. "That's what brought me to Dubai. Still, it was a battle which took two-and-a-half years and proved tougher than developing the project itself. No bank would pay such an amount. It's a risky investment, as there are no pilots. We had to convince investors that it is safe and will bring returns on investment."

With official blessing, the Dubai Development & Investment Authority (DDIA) established a framework to handle grants and authorisations. Once the financial backing was guaranteed, the sonar analysis of the seabed complete and 7,000 anchors in place, construction began in summer 2005.

"We are sure that this hotel will set a precedent," says Hauser. "Crescent-Hydropolis is now planning a chain of underwater hotels, and nine countries have shown interest. Some will be the realisation of my initial deep-sea design." Hauser has even chosen to make his permanent home in Dubai. "And that won't change after the project [is finished], regardless of where our next project will be. The infrastructure is exceptionally good here - and it seldom rains!"

artie lange on joe buck, artie lange, joe buck live, joe buck, stern fan network

Yes, I did see thw whole first episode of Joe Buck Live, and I must say, I was not overly impressed. Nothing big came out of the Favre interview, Joe Buck somehow got out of having a hugh argument with Chad Johnson Ochocinco, and I felt that some of his humor fell flat. And keep in mind, I generally enjoy Joe Buck's dry sense of humor. But the highlight of the night was by a mile Artie Lange completely owning Joe Buck, Tony Romo, and Jessica Simpson all in less than 2 minutes of epic hilarity, with the best part being after Joe "The Bachelor Is Better Than Baseball" Buck saying that TMZ is his favorite website, Lange suggests that his 2nd favorite website must therefore be "suckingcock.com". Sorry for the poor quality video, but all you really have to do is listen and laugh. (as you have probably figured out, this video is quite NSFW as you can pretty much say whatever the fuck you want on HBO. And Artie Lange knows that.)

And while I don't know about elsewhere, but everyone in Philadelphia (or at least in my family) caught on to the whole Tony Homo joke years ago. Nevertheless, that was hilarious.

And one last thing not necessarily related to Lange but to Joe Buck Live in general, if I had a nickel for everytime Buck said how "great" a show it was going to be in the first 8 or so minutes, I think I would be a millionaire. Oh, and the ironic part was how at the end of the show, he went on about how announcers should not use the word "amazing" to describe every play in sports. And Joe, what's not amazing about Kobayashi eating 100 hot dogs?

cholestin, red yeast rice side effects, red yeast rice dosage, red yeast rice capsule, red yeast rice lower cholesterol

A statin can be a lifesaver if you’re at risk of heart disease, but some people who take the cholesterol-lowering drugs—up to 20%, by some estimates—have to stop because of muscle pain, the most common side effect. (Nearly 30 million people filled a statin prescription in 2005, according to the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality. Statins include popular drugs such as Crestor, Lipitor, and Zocor.) Now a new study suggests that an over-the-counter dietary supplement sold at pharmacies and health-food stores may be a workable alternative for people who have statin-related muscle pain. It seems that when combined with diet and lifestyle changes, red yeast rice supplements can lower LDL, or bad cholesterol, levels by more than 20% without a substantial risk of muscle pain (also known as myalgia), according to a study published Monday in the Annals of Internal Medicine.

“For some people, especially if they’ve had muscle aching, taking red yeast rice and making lifestyle changes can work as well as a statin,” says lead study author David Becker, MD, a cardiologist in private practice at Chestnut Hill Cardiology in Pennsylvania.

Although these and other results are promising (in a previous study led by Dr. Becker, a combination of red yeast rice and fish oil outperformed simvastatin, the generic version of Zocor), people with high cholesterol shouldn’t race to the vitamin store just yet. Red yeast rice is “not a panacea for all people with statin-association myalgias,” Dr. Becker cautions. In some patients, the supplements may cause a recurrence of muscle pain, or other serious muscle problems that are more difficult to detect.

Plus, consumers who buy red yeast rice off the shelf don’t necessarily know what they’re getting. The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) does not regulate dietary supplements, and the contents and potency of red yeast rice pills have been shown to vary widely among manufacturers. Some pills might even be dangerous: A 2008 analysis of red yeast rice products conducted by a supplement-industry watchdog group found a potentially toxic ingredient in 4 of out 10 brands—one was the store brand of a major pharmacy chain.

This is a clip from an upcoming episode of My Life on the D-List. Kathy Griffin goes to see one her idols, Lily Tomlin, and then the two go out to dinner. But the interesting part of the clip is when Griffin talks about having a ten year ban on Late Night with Conan O'Brien and how it was just lifted (I assume this was filmed before Conan took over The Tonight Show). Griffin appears tonight on Letterman's show for the first time in twelve years so that ban was lifted too.

The Halifax Chronicle-Herald's Willy Palov spoke to Pittsburgh Penguins captai Sidney Crosby's father, Troy, about his Game 7 jitters:

June 12, Halifax Chronicle-Herald: "No matter what happens, it's going to be a pretty emotional day," said Troy, who expected to be joined by his wife Trina and daughter Taylor in Detroit on Thursday evening. "It's been a tight series except for that one game in Detroit -- Game 5. But I think the team is pretty confident and they believe in themselves. They don't seem to get too high or too low. They just stick to their game and I think they're pretty confident in what they can do. They just seem really focused on what they have to do."

The Penguins forced a seventh game with a 2-1 win in Pittsburgh on Tuesday and now have a chance to erase the memory of last year's six-game loss to the Red Wings in the final.

It's a series that has captivated the attention of thousands of hockey fans in Nova Scotia, but for the father of the Cole Harbour superstar the outcome tonight clearly carries exponentially more significance. But as much as Troy readily admits he is feeling the stress of the moment, he reports that Sidney is remarkably calm given the circumstances.

"He doesn't really change that much. He knows what he has to do and what the team has to do," Troy said. "You can't get too wound up about it in a situation like that because then you get too nervous about it. I'm sure everyone's going to be a little nervous; they're going to be excited, even in Detroit. You can say all you want about experience but you're human and you're going to have some nerves. Everybody on both sides is going to have some nerves (today), I think."

The elder Crosby readily admits that he wants to see his son lift the Stanley Cup tonight:

"I've been dreaming about it for a long time," he said. "To get this close, it's kind of surreal, really. Hopefully in another 36 hours or so it will be a reality, I hope. We'll see what happens. We'll get all the good luck charms pulled out and hope for the best."

The CBC posted a very different take from Darren Helm's hometown of St. Andrews, Manitoba:

June 12, CBC: People in St. Andrews, north of Winnipeg, are preparing to cheer on local NHL hero Darren Helm and his Detroit Red Wings on Friday night in the Stanley Cup's decisive Game 7.

Hundreds are expected to gather at the local hockey arena to watch on big screens the winner-take-all championship game against the Pittsburgh Penguins.

"The pride is unreal. I mean there's signs up at Harry's Foods; there's signs up at the community club and the school; there's signs up, so everyone is just going hog wild on this," said Darren Zembik, the ice maker at the local arena. "They're quite ecstatic and excited about Darren Helm in the Stanley Cup finals. I mean, let's face it. It's Game 7. It's every kid's dream."

Helm, 22, has helped the Red Wings reach the Stanley Cup finals each of the past two years. Last season, Detroit won the NHL championship in six games against the Penguins.

This post-season, Helm has scored four goals, including the series winner against the Chicago Blackhawks in the Western Conference final. Zembik hopes the party on Friday is only a prequel to another in a month or so. If the Red Wings win, Helm is expected to bring the Stanley Cup back to the community for another visit.

"Obviously, I'm going to have to talk to Darren, but I know for sure he'll want to have a big party and things are in the works right now," he said. "So let's keep our fingers crossed."
